Michael L. Hutchings is a retired lawyer, judge, real estate developer and investor.  He graduated with honors from the J. Reuben Clark Law School in 1979 and was a BYU Law Review member.

Michael serves as a trustee of the Ensign Peak Foundation formerly known as the Mormon Historic Sites Foundation (1992-present). He has been involved in a number of restoration and preservation projects on sites from Latter-day Saint history and is currently assisting with the Joseph Smith Legal Papers project.   

Michael served in various local leadership positions in the Church and he has served three missions (North Central Mexico (1972-74), Spain Barcelona (2017-18) and Pioneer Trek in Utah-Wyoming (2016). 

Michael is the father of 6 children and 11 grandchildren.
