Abstract
Soon after the Lord confounded the languages at the Tower of Babel, the Jaredites were instructed to cross the ocean. However, one obstacle lay in their path—they had no way to light their barges. The Brother of Jared trusted in Christ’s benevolence. He asked Christ to stretch forth His hand and touch sixteen stones. According to his faith, the stones were transformed into glowing crystals of pure light, which allowed them to cross the ocean to the promised land in light, rather than darkness. This symbolizes our own journey through life and just as the Jaredites found light through Jesus Christ, so too can we find light and guidance in the trials of mortality.
Raised in Napa Valley, California, the artist found passion in art. Her love of creating inspired her to continue her art education at Brigham Young University- Idaho. During her first semester, her family’s home tragically burned in the Atlas fire of 2017, where she lost her entire art porfolio. By expressing her love for the Savior through her art and by serving an eighteen month mission in Chile Concepción, she was able to overcome her loss and find peace again. Kastner wants to use her artistic abilities to encourage others to look within themselves and find the light of Christ.
Submitted to the 2020 Book of Mormon Central Art Contest.
