Matthew Roper
Matthew Roper serves at Scripture Central. He has a long and abiding interest in the Book of Mormon, publishing extensively on topics such as warfare, Lehite social structure, geography, and the ancient pre-Columbian setting of the book. His current research focuses on questions of Book of Mormon authorship, historical and contemporary interpretations, and the intellectual history of Latter-day Saint scripture. Matthew previously served as a research associate for the Laura F. Willes Center for Book of Mormon Studies and compiled the Harold B. Lee Library’s electronic collection of nineteenth-century publications about the Book of Mormon. He holds a bachelor's degree in history and a master's degree in sociology from Brigham Young University.
Matthew lives in Provo, Utah, with his wife, Julie, and their five children.
