Why Would Zeezrom Attempt to Bribe Amulek? (Knowhy #118)

KnoWhy Videos | 02 min

“And Zeezrom said unto him: Behold, here are six onties of silver, and all these will I give thee if thou wilt deny the existence of a Supreme Being.”
Alma 11:22

Mormon may have deliberately emphasized or given Zeezrom his name to turn the tables on his flippant temptation. The etymology of this proper name adds a measure of ironic wit to this story passage: It was Zeezrom, “he of the silver,” literally, who attempted to bribe Amulek with silver.
