Was there wine in Pre-Columbian America?

Grapes were known in Pre-Columbian times in various regions of the Americas, including Mexico and some scholar believe they may have been used to make wine. The term wine, however, can refer to a variety of fermented beverages made from other fruits and vegetables. Ancient Americans are known to have produced a variety of these.
