Was Iron Worked in Pre-Columbian Times?

Iron ores were worked and prized in Pre-Columbian Mesoamerica as early as Olmec times (1200-400 B.C.). Notable works include a beautifully crafted dwarf-like figure made of hematite iron and polished iron mirrors.
