Did Jacob condemn plural marriage?

Polygamy was practiced in both ancient Israel and Pre-Columbian America. Jacob and Latter-day prophets affirm that monogamy is always the Lord’s standard for marriage unless God specifically commands otherwise (Jacob 2:27-30; D&C 132:34-39). Certain Nephites among Jacob’s people were under condemnation for engaging in the practice without Divine command.
