Abstract
Summary Lynne Hilton Wilson and John W. Welch discuss the book of Jacob, emphasizing its poetic and prophetic qualities as well as its focus on Christ. Jacob's unique position as a leader born after his family's departure from Jerusalem provides him with a perspective free from the baggage of the old world. The organization of Jacob's writings reflects careful editing and a focus on sacred messages, including his attention to the underprivileged. Jacob's approach to the small plates adheres to his brother Nephi's advice, focusing on sacred preaching, revelation, and prophecies centered on Christ. They discuss Jacob's sermons addressing pride, wealth, chastity, and plural marriage, as well as his hope for the spiritual welfare of his people. Dig Deeper John W. Welch, "Jacob 1-4." In John W.
