Watch: How the Woman Caught in Adultery teaches us about Relying on Our Rock, Jesus Christ

In the latest video produced by Messages of Christ, Daniel Smith gives a new perspective on the story of the woman accused of adultery. The video teaches how we are often quick to assume she is guilty, but in the end, we don't really know. According to the Law of Moses, it was the witnesses or accusers who were to cast the first stones. Jesus, understanding the true purpose behind the law commands that he who is without sin could cast the first stone. Powerfully, Jesus, who is without sin, does not cast a stone.
When all the accusers had left, the woman was left alone, alone with her Redeemer. When we feel abandoned and accused by everyone around us, we can rely on the rock of our Redeemer. Helaman taught his sons, Nephi and Lehi:
And now, my sons, remember, remember that it is upon the rock of our Redeemer, who is Christ, the Son of God, that ye must build your foundation; that when the devil shall send forth his mighty winds, yea, his shafts in the whirlwind, yea, when all his hail and his mighty storm shall beat upon you, it shall have no power over you to drag you down to the gulf of misery and endless wo, because of the rock upon which ye are built, which is a sure foundation, a foundation whereon if men build they cannot fall. (Helaman 5:12)
This lesson also teaches us, like the story of Pahoran, that we should be slow to judge, and quick to forgive. We too can seek to forgive others and lay down our stones of judgment and accusations.
