The Latter-Day Saints' Millennial Star

The Latter-Day Saints’ Millennial Star was an important magazine for early members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, especially in Great Britain. First published in 1840, it was created to share Church teachings, missionary reports, and news from Church leaders with members living far from Church headquarters in the United States. It also helped encourage British converts to gather in Utah. For over a century, the Millennial Star featured articles on faith, Church doctrine, and practical advice, while also providing updates on the Church’s growth around the world. It played a major role in supporting the early missionary efforts in Europe and was a key tool in the emigration of British Saints to Utah. After 130 years of publication, the Millennial Star ended in 1970, having fulfilled its mission of helping connect and inspire members across the globe. Today, it offers a window into the history of the Church’s early growth and development, particularly in Europe. The entries on the Scripture Central Library are a selection of articles from the publication, and do not constitute the whole.
