Abstract

Rasband focuses on what it means to take the name of the Lord in vain. She discusses the importance of keeping the commandment through the Bible and reinforces it through the use of modern scripture like the Doctrine and Covenants and Book of Mormon. Within the Book of Mormon, she finds the importance of using the Lord’s name with respect since we take upon ourselves his name and become the children of Christ (Mosiah 5:7 and 3 Nephi 27:5-8). She also recognizes that the name of Jesus Christ is the only name by which we can be saved (2 Nephi 31:21).
