Abstract

Dan Jones, a Welsh immigrant who converted to the Church in 1843, was with Joseph Smith in jail on the Prophet's last night in mortality. This issue of BYU Studies presents the first English translation of Jones's account of "The Martyrdom of Joseph Smith and His Brother Hyrum." Also included are the results from Gerald Stott's study of the "Effects of College Education on the Religious Involvement of Latter-day Saints" and from Wilfried Decoo's study of the social psychology of LDS converts in a European Catholic region.
