Abstract

The longest allegory in scripture is Zenos’s allegory of the olive tree. Because of this allegory’s unusual length, it can be helpful to break it up into meaningful sections. This chart divides the allegory into six main stages that correspond with major developments in the house of Israel’s past, present, and future. The chart also provides illustrations and scripture references to help readers quickly grasp the essential features in each stage. As readers begin to comprehend the allegory’s overall structure, they will be better prepared to make sense of its rich symbolism.
