Abstract

We know for certain that Jesus Christ appeared personally to prophets such as Lehi, Nephi, Jacob, Mormon, and Moroni and to the people gathered at Bountiful. These personal visitations are listed in the first part of this chart. But Christ probably appeared to additional prophets as well. The second part of the chart lists those who recorded having seen the "angel of the Lord." In the Old Testament, “angel of the Lord” could refer to Jehovah or to his angelic messengers. Because this ambiguity may also be present in the Book of Mormon, it’s possible that Nephite prophets who beheld the “angel of the Lord” were actually visited by the Savior himself.
