Abstract
Answering a question posed by her son Joseph Smith III in 1879, Emma Smith indicated that the Prophet Joseph Smith didn’t have the writing abilities to author the Book of Mormon. She also dismissed the idea that Joseph dictated its words from a prepared manuscript. Emma’s testimony on these matters is crucial because she witnessed the translation take place under various circumstances and even acted as one of Joseph Smith’s scribes.
