Abstract

Honorable Mention in the 2020 Book of Mormon Central Art Contest.

This piece is a stained glass representation of Ether 2 and 3. In the valley of Nimrod the Lord spoke with the brother of Jared in a cloud directing and guiding him. This is represented in the inner circle of the window. He was instructed to build 8 barges that are tight like unto a dish. They spent 344 days on the water (phases of the moon representing the passage of time). Sixteen luminous stones were touched by the finger of the Lord to provide light. Swarms of honey bees were carried in the vessels. The last two circles are the furious wind and waves of the sea.

Jeanne Gomme has been building stained glass windows since 1983. She teaches glass classes in my studio to enthusiastic students and has won numerous awards art exhibits. She is a member of the Utah Art Board and the Utah  Valley Artists Guild. She loves the colors, textures and light involved in building stained glass windows.
