Abstract
This piece received an Honorable Mention in the 2019 Book of Mormon Central Art Contest.
Nephi spent his life finding reasons to be grateful (1 Nephi 17). Undoubtedly, his wife was supportive alongside him. Here Nephi has broken his bow and is working on an arrow from a straight stick. He is hungry, as are his wife and children. Yet, his wife is also confident and humble in her circumstances. I dressed her in a thistle dress. Prickly, thorny times make us uncomfortable, even desperate, yet such times can also profoundly and beautifully shape us for good.
