The Grave Hath No Victory

Submitted to the 2021 Book of Mormon Central Art Contest.

So many of the pioneers’ loved ones and sweet children were lost along their way to Zion. Already a painstaking trek across the country, I can't imagine how the pioneers felt as members of their family passed away along the trail. They were so faithful and so strong. While I truly believe the spirits of those who passed before helped and comforted those that remained, I also believe that the knowledge of the gospel and the knowledge that their loved ones still lived on in spirit gave them hope and helped them press forward in faith. Their eternal perspective kept them focused on what was most important, overcome obstacles, and stay true to the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Born and raised in Utah, the artist graduated from BYU with a Bachelors in Fine Arts: emphasis in Illustration. After losing her second son, her artistic focus shifted to topics and paintings intended to help bring hope and uplift others who have experienced loss. She moved with her family to Waco, Texas, two years ago and has loved the change of scene and ability to continue to create her artwork and help others in a new community. She only recently has shifted from primarily working in oil and acrylics to digital painting as a way to more conveniently and safely paint with 3 young boys in the home. Eventually, she hopes to have artwork displayed in Temples, Church buildings and various publications by the Church.
