Abstract

Honorable Mention in the 2020 Book of Mormon Central Art Contest.

This is a Book of Mormon quilt by Amy Winsor created in 1999. The quilt depicts various Book of Morrmon stories in the different blocks, such as Samuel the Lamanite, Christ descending to Bountiful, the Brother of Jared, and Moroni sealing up the record.

One block depicts Captain Moroni holding the Title of Liberty, and the people  running to him, rending their garments as a covenant, and casting their garments at the feet of Moroni. Alma 46.

Another block depicts the story in 3 Nephi 17, where Jesus said, “Behold your little ones.” The argels are portrayed playing with the little children, and cuddling them, and tossing them up in the air.

The block of the final battle of the Nephites was based on research of the clothing and weapons of the Maya, Aztec, and Inca people.

Amy Stewart Winsor has been a quilt artist and quilting instructor since 1999, and has created hundreds of beautiful quilts for competitions, and for her children and grandchildren. She and her husband live in Apex, North Carolina.
