Without Beauty
He hath no form nor comeliness. . . .[T]here is no beauty that we should desire him. (Isa. 53:2)
He wore coarse
clothing of affliction,
the girdle of infirmity, and
walked hungry, thirsty roads.
Common as a carpenter
covered with uncomely dust
of toil and temptation,
He mingled with multitudes
beset by worldliness,
stricken with sickness and sin.
Some could see the light in His eyes.
Those who listened, felt His love,
sensed the wisdom of His words.
Blessed by faith-affirming miracles,
they would follow Him,
though He dressed as other men.
